In regards to determining the differences between each, cannabis a/k/a marijuana (street term), CBD (cannabinoid) and hemp. I decided to do the research for my own benefit, probably because I was a skeptic at first, and would like to share with my readers. I hope you find this blog useful. Any products or items listed on here I have researched or experienced and I will try to list only a few of the top rated products for the convenience of my readers.
Some of us have heard about the benefits and uses, some are curious and some are still not convinced (like my mom), which is what encouraged me to write this blog. I was raised and taught that marijuana is a bad, awful, illegal drug, and like my parents, so many others were raised that way also. But now, we are finding health benefits and many other uses of cannabis, hemp, and CBD that existed for all of those years. Hopefully, we can learn on our own and take a hold of our own health and not the government illegalizing our own earth’s resources that benefit our health. I have taken the leap to test and research in hopes to convince others (and my mom) to also research and to find it’s not so awful and have knowledge and understanding of all the ways it could potentially benefit your health.
Understanding CBD CANNABIS OIL and HEMP SEED OIL
Understanding the difference and the plants they come from between hemp, CBD, and cannabis can get confusing. This is a short version, but should hopefully give you a better understanding.
CBD is typically extracted from the hemp plant or from the cannabis marijuana plant. CBD oil is made from the whole hemp and cannabis plant. CBD hemp oil is not the same as the medicinal beneficial CBD oil. But they both have different health benefits.
Hemp is a cannabis plant, different strains. The stems, seeds and stalk are usually used to make fabric or rope and only the seeds are used to make hemp oil. Hemp seed oil is made only by pressed seeds and does not contain CBD or THC (the ingredient that makes you feel high).
The CBD oil made from hemp is extracted from the mature hemp plant using a variety parts of the hemp plant, the leaves, stem and flower, it has very low THC (below .03%) and high amounts of CBD. Hemp seed oil, CBD oil and CBD hemp oil for the sake of it, have different benefits and purposes.
Cannabis a/k/a marijuana contains both CBD and THC.
THE HEMP PLANT AND MARIJUANA PLANT
Basically the hemp plant which is a cannabis sativa plant contains little or no amounts of THC and higher amounts of CBD, whereas, a marijuana/cannabis Indica plant has more THC and less CBD but more potent CBD. There are many different strains of the hemp plant and there are basically two strains of cannabis, sativa and indica but many different hybrids come from those types. The CBD derived from the marijuana plant is said to be more powerful than that derived from the hemp plant. Although both have many uses and benefits. Not all oils sold are tested for purity so be sure to buy from a reputable company.
“Sativa strains are typically taller, loosely branched and have long, narrow leaves. They are usually grown outdoors and can reach heights of up to 20 feet. Sativa plants typically have higher concentration of CBD enzymes, essentially causing no mind-altering effect.”
“Indica strains are shorter, densely branched and have wider leaves. They are better suited for growing indoors. Indica plants contain higher THC content, which has an intoxicating effect of causing a “body buzz”.
*Many hybrids of these plants have been developed recently, so it is more important to examine the exact THC level of a plant rather than strictly categorizing them “sativa” or “indica” – www.ministryofhemp.com
Amazingly enough, experts are still researching finding more uses and even more medical benefits that we are still unaware of. Stay tuned: My next blog will be information regarding how it works, the benefits and side effects of each.
